How to run it

  1. Explain to participants that they must guess the hidden objects in the box based on the clues or descriptions provided.
  2. Show the opaque box or bag where the objects are, without revealing them.
  3. Take out one object from the box without showing it and describe its characteristics (e.g., “It’s small, round, and metallic”).
  4. Optional: allow participants to ask questions to get more clues.
  5. Participants should say their guesses out loud or write them on paper (or in the chat for a virtual version).
  6. After everyone has made their guesses, reveal the object and discuss its characteristics.
  7. Continue with the next object until all items in the box have been used.

  • Where we observed it: The strongest current observations come from Participatory Methods; aggregators are listed as additional observations, not origin proof. (1 source observed, including Participatory Methods.)
  • What that means: we track where an exercise has been observed in public sources. We do not claim to know who created it, or how popular it is.
  • No efficacy claims: appearing in this library is not a claim that the exercise is proven effective. Facilitator judgment and context decide whether it works for a given room.
