Ten-Question Personality Questionnaire
Participants complete a lighthearted ten-question multiple-choice questionnaire, tally their points, and review a descriptive profile. In pairs or small groups, they share only what they choose about how closely the description fits them.
15 minutes | 4 to 24 people
Choose this exercise
Purpose: Compare self-perception with lightweight personality descriptions using a standardized self-scoring survey.
Use it when: Use as a light icebreaker or warm-up in team kickoffs, training workshops, or language classes exploring self-description.
Skip it when: Skip during high-stakes hiring, formal performance evaluations, or conflict mediation where quiz labels could be misinterpreted as clinical or diagnostic assessments.
Group arrangement: Individual completion followed by pairs or triads and brief whole-room debrief.
Timing: Fits the 5 to 15 minute band from the source records.
Materials and tools
- One copy of the Ten-Question Questionnaire per person or digital display slide
- One scoring key and profile interpretation sheet per person or displayed on a screen
- Pen or pencil for each participant
- Scratch paper for tallying points
Before participants arrive
- Print copies of the questionnaire and interpretation sheet, or prepare them as digital slides.
- Distribute writing utensils and scratch paper.
Say this to open
We are going to complete a short, informal ten-question quiz. Answer based on how you behave right now, not in the past. Your answers and your final score belong to you. You decide what, if anything, you want to share with others.
How to run it
Introduce quiz and answer questions 4 minutes
Distribute the questionnaire or display the questions. Have participants record their chosen letter for questions 1 through 10 on scratch paper. Participants work independently.
Score responses 3 minutes
Reveal the scoring point values for each question. Direct participants to look up the points for their letters and add them up to find their total score between 10 and 70.
Read profiles and discuss in pairs 5 minutes
Display or hand out the score band interpretations. Form pairs or triads. If there is an odd number, form one group of three. Give participants 4 minutes to discuss whether the profile matches how they see themselves, sharing only what they wish.
Debrief with whole group 3 minutes
Bring the room back together. Ask one or two debrief questions. Take two to three volunteer comments from the room within the time.
Debrief questions
- Which parts of your profile felt accurate, and which felt completely off?
- How can quick labels or informal tests help or hinder how a team understands each other?
Finished output: A completed private point total and personal reflection shared with a peer.
Remote
Display questions on screen slides or send a link to a digital form. Have participants note their answers privately. Paste point values into chat or display on a slide for self-scoring. Break into breakout rooms of 2 to 3 people for 4 minutes to discuss, then return for whole-group debrief in chat or on mic.
Hybrid
Display questions and scoring keys simultaneously on the room screen and screen share. Pair remote participants with remote participants in breakout rooms, and in-person participants with in-person partners to avoid cross-talk.
Access and participation choices
- Provide large-print copies or read questions aloud for participants with visual impairments.
- Participants may decline to score, decline to read the interpretation, or decline to disclose their score or profile without explanation.
If the session gets stuck
- A participant receives a score in a category with unflattering descriptors (for example, 'handle with care' or 'plodder') and feels uncomfortable.
- Remind the room immediately that this quiz is an informal parlor game with no clinical validity, and invite them to critique where the quiz got it wrong.
- A participant loses count or miscalculates their score.
- Provide the printed scoring key so they can check their arithmetic at their own pace without needing facilitator assistance.
Terms used here
- Score band: A range of numerical scores that corresponds to a specific descriptive summary paragraph.

Sources and adaptation
Observed in Teampedia as 'Personality Test' (often circulating as the internet chain letter 'Dr. Phil's Personality Test').
Retained the full 10-question text, point values, and profile tiers directly from the Teampedia entry (cached-public-163a9d4e0ad2). UWT established a structured 15-minute facilitation plan, added explicit opt-out and non-disclosure language to protect participant privacy, structured pair discussions, and framed the debrief around critical reflection rather than endorsing the quiz as a formal evaluation tool.
