# Quarterly business review (QBR)

The classic QBR is a slide recital where the numbers get read aloud and the real conversation happens in the hallway afterward. This template inverts it: numbers travel as pre-reads, and the meeting works the deltas, decisions, and next-quarter commitments.

Who: Internal quarterly reviews or customer QBRs, 5 to 50 people.
Duration: 90 minutes to half day

## Agenda

- 0:00 | Silent read or recap: the one-page scorecard, deltas highlighted: Everyone enters the conversation from the same facts.
- 0:10 | Wins and root causes: what worked and why, told by the people closest to it: Learning transfers when the practitioner explains the mechanism.
- 0:30 | The miss autopsy: one significant miss examined without blame, cause mapped: One honest autopsy beats ten defended variances.
- 0:55 | Decision block: the two or three calls that need this room, argued and made: A review that decides nothing was an email.
- 1:15 | Next-quarter commitments: owners, dates, and the metric each will move: Commitments tied to metrics create their own follow-up.
- 1:25 | Close: where the commitment tracker lives and the mid-quarter pulse date: The loop is announced, visible, and dated.

## Design notes

- Ban live recitals of numbers everyone can read; start from deltas.
- Run one blameless miss autopsy per quarter; it compounds into real learning.
- Tie every commitment to the metric it should move and a mid-quarter pulse check.
