# Choose a name activity for your group

Use name badges or paired introductions for a quieter start. Choose a circle or mingle game when the group wants repeated name practice. The times and group sizes below describe the suggested plans on each activity page.

### [Story of Your Name](https://unitedwetransform.com/exercises/fun-get-to-know-you-exercise-inspires-sharing-story-of-your-name/)

**12 minutes; 4 to 24 people.** Discuss chosen names and pronunciation in pairs, trios or quartets.

Only a timer or chime is needed. A nickname, initials or listening pass is welcome. Fully remote breakouts work; name histories are optional.

### [Imaginary Toss-A-Name Game](https://unitedwetransform.com/exercises/interactive-name-game-for-groups-imaginary-toss-a-name-game/)

**10 minutes; 6 to 20 people.** Practice names through imaginary passes in one seated or standing circle.

No materials. A verbal pass can replace arm movement. Use one in-person circle or a fully remote group; a mixed circle is not recommended.

### [Toss-A-Name Game](https://unitedwetransform.com/exercises/active-name-game-for-learning-through-movement-toss-a-name-game/)

**15 minutes; 6 to 24 people.** Practice recipient and sender names through repeated ball passes.

Bring 2 to 4 soft tossables; name tags are optional. Requires a clear physical circle. The page labels its online version as a separate adaptation.

### [Name Tags for Success](https://unitedwetransform.com/exercises/name-tags-for-success/)

**10 minutes; 4 to 24 people.** Prepare readable name badges for a group that prefers visual reminders.

Bring one badge per person, thick dark markers, an example badge and clips or adjustable lanyards if needed. Allow about ten feet for the readability check. This is an in-person name aid.

### [Partner Introductions](https://unitedwetransform.com/exercises/partner-icebreaker-activity-for-sharing-partner-introductions/)

**16 minutes; 4 to 24 people.** Interview a partner, then introduce them by name with details they choose to share.

Use a timer, visible prompt questions and paper or a shared board. Notes and written introductions are welcome. The plan includes a trio for an odd group; each public introduction stays under 20 seconds.

### [Let Me Introduce](https://unitedwetransform.com/exercises/simple-icebreaker-activity-for-learning-names-let-me-introduce/)

**10 minutes; 6 to 24 people.** Ask a new person their name, then introduce them to someone else.

No special materials; optional name tags. Leave space to mingle, or use seated anchor stations. A person can point to their name tag or pass a speaking turn.

1. Start with the name each person wants used, and ask how to pronounce it. Keep name tags or display names visible when helpful.
2. Offer a spoken, written or listening option. People can use a chosen name, nickname or initials without explaining their history.
3. Before a recall game, let everyone hear the names once. Allow reminders and passing; forgetting a name should not block participation.

These are UWT selection suggestions, not measured claims about memory or team performance. Activity pages identify the observed sources and distinguish UWT timing, access options and other adaptations. Name badges and brief introductions provide name cues; they do not test recall.
