# Conference day

This single-day conference pattern keeps the marquee moments and builds the middle of the day around participant work, useful connections and an explicit next step. Adapt the timings to your participants and the output they need to produce.

Who: Industry conferences and summits, 100 to 10,000 people.
Duration: 1 day

## Agenda

- 8:00 | Arrival with intent: attendees post one ask and one offer at check-in: Turns a badge line into the day's connection fuel.
- 9:00 | Opening keynote: one argument that frames the day, 30 minutes: A great keynote earns its slot by giving the day a thesis to work against.
- 9:45 | Reaction tables: eight-minute structured debrief at every table: Doubles keynote retention at the cost of eight minutes.
- 10:15 | Tracked working sessions: workshops and clinics by role, capped seats, real artifacts: The middle of the day belongs to participants, routed by role.
- 12:15 | Matched lunch: seating or meetups generated from the morning's asks and offers: Networking by design; the corpus shows chance networking mostly fails.
- 13:30 | Panel, reinvented: experts work a live problem from the audience, then small-group exchanges: Expertise applied beats expertise displayed.
- 15:00 | Commitment wall: attendees post one action with a date; organizers photograph and publish: The event's outcomes become public and checkable.
- 16:00 | Closing synthesis: what the day produced, plus the 30-day follow-up plan: Close on evidence and continuation, not just thanks.

## Design notes

- Give every broadcast block a participant-work shadow: reaction tables after keynotes, clinics after panels.
- Engineer the connections: asks and offers at check-in, matched lunches, published introductions.
- Publish a commitment wall and a 30-day follow-up; almost no conference in 23,624 does.

These are design recommendations informed by published agenda evidence, not measured outcome claims.
